In this week’s episode, our guest is Rachel Grandi, who recently returned from a three-week adventure across Australia and New Zealand. Rachel raises money for a good cause during the day, and procrastinates instead of writing at night. Her dad took her to Italy when she was five, and she tried to jump off the leaning tower of Pisa. This foreshadowed many of her travel adventures. You can find her singing and dancing at Storytown some Saturday mornings, and on Grandipants.com the rest of the time. She always has a pen.
1) Where have you traveled?
US – Seattle, San Francisco, LA, San Diego, Oahu, Denver, Milwaukee, St. Louis, New Orleans, Dallas, Nashville, Charlotte, Charleston, Orlando, San Juan, and the greater New England area
The World – London, Paris, Venice, Rome, Cape Town, Negril, Vlore (Albania), Sydney, Melbourne, and most of Iceland and New Zealand
2) What’s been your favorite trip so far?
This is kind of impossible… I would say riding a horse in Iceland, surfing in Australia, and photographing the Democratic National Convention in Denver are all tied for first.
3) What are three things you always take with you when you travel?
I’m pretty atrocious at packing and so tend to forget one critical thing almost every time, but I would say my cell phone, a book, and a hair tie always manage to make it in. Can’t have adventures when your hair is in your face.
4) What’s your next destination?
Harry Potter World! My husband has been promising me this for two years, so we’re spending his 31st birthday in Orlando/Hogwarts. After that it’s Galena, IL for the Great Galena Balloon Race.
5) What’s one reason why you travel?
There is so much world out there, and so much delicious wine and cheese.
